Admiration for the Judiciary

As a common citizen, the judiciary has always evoked profound respect in me. Courts symbolize justice, discipline, and the rule of law, and their supremacy is a cornerstone of governance. The very mention of courts elevates my admiration, inspiring a sense of awe.

When we launched Olive Grapes, our focus was on corporate clients, not government institutions. Back then, we couldn't imagine the opportunity to collaborate with prestigious entities like the High Court of Madras.

Humble Beginnings to Corporate Success

Our journey began modestly, serving small companies and startups. Gradually, we expanded to mid-sized businesses and eventually to large corporations, including international clients. This growth was the result of perseverance, trust-building, and a relentless commitment to excellence.

One unexpected day in 2022, a chance acquaintance connected me with a judge from the Judicial Academy. This marked the beginning of an exciting, albeit challenging, chapter.

A Learning Curve at the Judicial Academy

When I first met the judge, I was filled with nervousness & anticipation. Atmosphere was intimidating: towering buildings, tight security, chambers filled with case files, and an aura of authority. I had limited knowledge of how the Judicial Academy functioned or its purpose.

The judge warmly welcomed me and patiently explained the Academy’s operations. Over hours of discussion, I began to grasp the basics. They expressed interest in developing a website for the Academy and requested a detailed proposal with timelines.

Excited, I poured my energy into creating a comprehensive proposal. To my disappointment, it was rejected. The reason? “Olive Grapes” was deemed too small to participate in the tender.

Though disappointed, I took it in stride and returned to my usual work. It was a learning experience, and I resolved to keep moving forward.

An Unexpected Call from the High Court of Madras

Six months later, I received a call from a landline—a practice I maintain out of respect for the unknown. The caller introduced himself as a representative of the High Court of Madras. He invited me to discuss a potential project at the High Court Complex near Parrys Corner in Chennai.

The High Court Complex was even grander than I had imagined. The bustling surroundings reflected the magnitude of its operations. Meeting the officials, I listened attentively as they outlined their requirements. This time, I submitted a quote that was accepted.

What followed was a year-long process involving rigorous documentation, verification, and scrutiny. Finally, in December 2023, I received the initial payment for the project. The realization that the Government of Tamil Nadu was entrusting me with this work filled me with pride and gratitude.

The Unexpected Referral That Changed Everything

The most surprising aspect of this journey? The referral came from the judge I had initially met at the Judicial Academy. Despite my earlier rejection, he remembered my effort and recommended me for the High Court project.

Lessons Learned: Trust the Process

This experience taught me invaluable lessons about resilience, trust, and persistence. The universe works in mysterious ways—each effort, no matter how small, contributes to your growth.
